Watch my conversation with Tom Holland // Spectator article goes viral

Was Tom Holland healed by prayer? Is there a Christian revival?

If you’ve been waiting patiently for the video of my live London conversation with historian Tom Holland.. the wait is over!

Holland, author of 'Dominion' and host of the hugely popular ‘Rest Is History’ podcast joined me for a public conversation on The Surprising Rebirth Of Belief In God. We discussed Holland's own intellectual and spiritual journey, including an apparently answered prayer to a health crisis.

But is the renewed interest in the value of faith among secular intellectuals evidence of a turning of the tide of faith? I’m optimistic, while Holland takes a more sanguine view. The event was hosted by LICC's Paul Woolley and Grace Fielding at Westminster Chapel, London with Q&A from a 600-strong audience.

The Alternative Story of Science - listen to the early release of the next podcast episode

The next episode will begin our next act, about the alternative story of science! New Atheists used science as their trump card against religion. But what if we've been sold a false story about 'science vs faith'? I speak to scientists, historians and thinkers about modern myths, the conflict thesis and the Christians who launched the scientific revolution.

Along the way we hear from Peter Atkins, David Hutchings, John Lennox, Tim O'Neill, Sarah Irving-Stonebraker and Jennifer Wiseman. I also hear the surprising story of how tech pioneer Ros Picard came to faith.

This episode won’t be publicly released until April 30th, but you can listen now when you become a Silver or Gold Patreon supporter, or get early access via Tax-deductible giving (USA).

My Spectator article goes viral

The Spectator recently invited me to share my thoughts on why we may be witnessing a surprising rebirth of belief in God (“revival” is perhaps a bit strong - it wasn’t my choice of title)! Nevertheless, the article evidently resonated with many people and received thousands of shares on social media over the Easter period. I’ve been delighted to see the positive responses.

They also invited me and Tom Holland to speak on the Spectator podcast about this optimistic hypothesis (we come in at about 13 minutes).

We won a prize, and here it is!

The Surprising Rebirth of Belief in God podcast was awarded the Zenger Prize for Journalism, and what’s even more fun is that it’s actually a magnifying glass! Thanks to Zenger House for this recognition of the podcast which has recently reached 400k downloads.

Exciting event coming up with UnHerd Club: 14th May, London

With recent examples of high-profile atheists publicly converting to religious faith, or aligning with ‘cultural Christianity’, it seems the tide might be turning against secularism in Britain and America. But do stars of the rationalist movement finding faith mark a greater social shift? I’ll be joining UnHerd to discuss this very question alongside host of ‘The Sacred’ Elizabeth Oldfield and Alex O’Connor, otherwise known as the ‘Cosmic Skeptic’.
