The podcast is available on all podcast platforms such as Apple Podcasts & Spotify (including, most recently YouTube Music!)

P.S. I’ve been hugely encouraged by the number of people with and without faith getting in touch to say how much the podcast has impacted their journey. We are already in the process of creating Season 2 for 2025. If you can help me to cover our production costs by supporting Think Faith, I would be so grateful!

Hours of extra video interview material available to supporters!

Dawkins’ PhD Examiner: “Selfish Gene DAMAGED Science!” - Dr Denis Noble & Perry Marshall

We’re releasing over 10 hours of special bonus video editions of full interviews I conducted during the making of The Surprising Rebirth of Belief in God Season 1.

They’ll come out gradually on YouTube between late October and the end of 2024, but if you support my work financially on Silver, Gold, or Platinum level, you can watch all of them right now!

Your giving makes a huge difference, and will enable us to produce a Season 2!

This week’s interview highlight: Despite championing the scientific method, Prof Richard Dawkins’ most popular and famous book “The Selfish Gene” may actually have slowed down and taken biology backwards - including inhibiting the search for cancer cures. That’s according to his doctoral examiner and physiologist Dr Denis Noble, and co-founder of the “Cancer and Evolution” research group Perry Marshall. Has Dawkins’ neo-Darwinian “gene-centric” interpretation of evolution been holding back scientific progress? What happens if we allow for a purposive dimension to biological organisms?

Watch the first episodes of Re-Enchanting, Season 5!

Belle Tindall and I kicked of Re-Enchanting Season 5 with the well-known atheist podcaster Alex O’Connor. Unlike many online new atheists he has sought to genuinely understand his Christian and religious counterparts. This included studying theology at Oxford University, helping to re-establish a Socratic debating society in the mould of the one created by CS Lewis, and counting many Christians as his friends and acquaintances.

And then came our interview with historian, theologian, and author Tom Wright! Tom has written extensively on Jesus, Paul and early Christianity and his work has been hugely influential across the world. As well as his notable academic career Tom has also served in the Church of England in various roles, including as bishop of Durham from 2003-2010.

We talked to Tom about his new book, co-authored with Mike Bird - ‘Jesus And The Powers: Christian Political Witness in an Age of Totalitarian Terror and Dysfunctional Democracies’. How can we re-enchant 21st Century politics with the 1st Century vision of Jesus as Lord?

I’ve received many encouraging messages about the Surprising Rebirth Podcast in the past month, including this one:

“This goes down as the best podcast of the year for me. The range of scholarship given here, delivered accessibly, and the book that goes with it; anyone involved in teaching about Religion and Philosophy should be familiar with it.”

Savvas Costi, theology & philosophy teacher
